Panlong River Biodiversity Enhancement Project
The project aims to restore and enhance biodiversity along the Panlong River in Kunming by revitalizing wetlands, riparian zones, and aquatic habitats across a 15 km corridor. Through habitat restoration, smart monitoring, and community engagement, the initiative will improve water quality, increase urban resilience, and foster local stewardship. It also promotes eco-tourism, environmental education, and gender-inclusive employment, contributing to Kunming’s biodiversity goals and aligning with national strategies for sustainable urban development.

Objectives & outcomes
- Restore 15 km of river ecosystems including wetlands, riparian zones, and urban habitats.
- Create 3 biodiversity restoration demonstration zones (upstream, midstream, downstream).
- Engage 5,000 citizens annually in monitoring and ecological activities.
- Conduct 20+ educational events per year on biodiversity and sustainability.
- Install 10 smart monitoring stations using AI and sensor technology.
- Generate local jobs and economic growth through eco-tourism and restoration work.
