Campinas Connectivity Area
The Metropolitan Region of Campinas identified the need to connect relevant areas from an ecological point of view as a priority challenge. Elaborated in a participatory process with the 23 municipalities that are part of the Metropolitan Region, INTERACT-Bio and RECONECTA-RMC have identified regions of key Ecosystem Services provision, as well as main pressures – such as industrial activity and urbanization. The typical fauna and flora of the region were also assessed and the Connectivity Area was therefore proposed as a guide for municipal planning and an underpinning strategy to ensure the integration of nature to urban planning.
