Kunming, China

Kunming Dianchi Urban Wetland Pilot

The project aims to restore and enhance biodiversity across over 2.87 km² of wetlands in Kunming’s Dianchi National Tourist Resort. By integrating wetland conservation, ecological education, community engagement, and smart monitoring, it seeks to improve biodiversity, support eco-tourism, and establish inclusive benefit-sharing mechanisms to ensure that local communities gain from these. The initiative will contribute to climate resilience, improve water quality, and strengthen local livelihoods, serving as a replicable model for urban wetland management and sustainable development in China and beyond.
